Overview
Deloitte is one of the Big 4 consulting firms. So, it’s hiring process is a bit different from the standard hiring processes of other companies. It basically consists of 3 stages, namely Stage 1, Stage 2 and Stage 3.When it visited our campus (NIT Sikkim), the job role was of Analyst. Whole drive was conducted virtually.
Round 1 (26th January 2021): Online Aptitude Test(90 mins)
- The test was conducted on the AMCAT platform. It consisted of three parts Quantitative, logical and verbal reasoning. Each section had an individual time limit. Once a question is answered you cannot come back to the question. This is an eliminating round.
- This round is quite easy. Try to answer maximum questions, maintain good speed with accuracy.
Round 2 (13th February): JAM(Just a minute)
- This round is conducted to mainly test your communication skills and confidence. 6 to 8 students are grouped together. Each student is asked to choose a no from [1-40]. A topic is associated with each number. A student gets a total of 2 mins in which he/she can think on the topic and has to speak for atleast 1 min. If you are not comfortable with the topic you can request for change of topic. I chose no 40 and my topic was ‘Usage of VR in medical field’. Other topics were related to the latest technologies like Blockchain, IoT, Driverless cars, also you can expect topics like women empowerment, diversity and it’s role in modern world.
- Speak fluently and try to follow this structure- Intro, content(optional), example, advantages & disadvantages(optional) and finally a conclusion. You should be careful not to repeat any points.
Round 3 (13th February): Personal Interview (60 mins)
- This was a one-to-one interview. Generally, the interview duration would be 20 mins. Since, I’ve mentioned my interpersonal skills along with technical skills, at first she introduced herself, what work she do in Deloitte, how much experience does she have etc. after which she started asking about myself and my journey as a student in NIT Sikkim, how did I handle work pressure working on the lead position of different cells along with academics, after which comes the technical questions, she asked questions from python, web. She seemed happy with my honest answer and progress. Later she asked me in-depth about my project which I’ve done with ISRO and about my major project. This took around 40 mins
- After this she asked me to built a comment management system on my preferred language to test my understanding. Be honest about what you speak and also what you mention on your resume. Be thorough with your resume. So, in my case I was given to build the system in 20 mins. So, I had to make a system which generally takes 40-45 mins in 20 mins, so I focused mainly on the backend part or you can say functionality part. Atlast, I’ve built a basic system where user can submit and delete the comment. She seemed quite impressed.
Lastly, she asked me if I had any questions to which I asked two questions which she happily answered.
Do’s and Don’ts
- If you don’t know the answer to some question just say “I’m really sorry, I will learn this concept” instead of giving garbage explanation.
- Be Confident, give the interview with a smile.
- In JAM, practice beforehand on any topic just to test your flow, pronunciation, and time you are taking to cover the flow. If some section is slowing you down then don’t include it, you can remove content and advantages and disadvantages section if you want. Try your best to attach the topic to some real world application, it will give you very much plus point.
- Lastly, Don’t try to over-burden yourself.
