Global Navigation Satellite System
From the name we can conclude the meaning that a system which uses a satellite system to provide geo-spatial positions of a vehicle/person.
Blast from Past
The first ever navigation method is used by Columbus. He used the method of Dead Reckoning. It is the process of determining a vessel's approximate position by applying DR from its last known position a vector or a series of consecutive vectors representing the run that has since been made.

Theoritical Doppler
The expected Doppler frequency based on a satellite's motion relative to the receiver. It is computed using the satellites's coordinates and velocity, and the receiver's coordinates and velocity.
What is Global Navigation Satellite System?
A worldwide position and time determination system that includes one or more satellite constellations, aircraft receivers and system integrity monitoring, augmented as necessary to support the required navigation performance for the intended operation.
Components/Segments of a GNSS Satellite System
- Space Segment : It contains the GNSS Satellites
- Control Segment : It contains Data Uploading stations, base stations and Master Control Stations
- User Segment : The segment where we come into play.
